We’ve got some news: we’ve been in the process of installing our very own swimming pool. Check it out below!
Day 1 of pool building was all about excavation. The first step of building a pool is always excavating.
What’s excavating? It means to literally dig up the earth beneath you to make space for the swimming pool. So the team dug and dug and dug all day long.
On Day 2 of pool building and installation, everyone was hard at work laying down the rebar (steel) to support the pool’s structure.
There were about 20 people on site – and every single one of them had a tape measure on their belt! They were constantly checking to ensure measurements were exactly correct.
Getting accurate measurements is extremely important when installing a pool. Initial mistakes – even small ones – can stay with you the whole life of the pool and cause all sorts of issues.
Much like with a house, “If you build the foundation crooked, the whole house will be crooked.” This is also true for pools.
If it’s measured accurately, then the rest of the project goes well and the life of the pool is much easier to prolong.
On Day 3, pool building was well on its way. At this stage, workers poured the gunite over the steel rebar to cement it in place.
Gunite is actually mixed in a truck beforehand and piped into the job site. It’s blown on, in a manner very similar to applying insulation. Basically, high-velocity air pressure blows the gunite onto the pool surface.
