Top 5 Reasons Manning Loves the Houston Rodeo

Reason 1: Exciting Competitions

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo running from March 3 – March 22, 2019. At the show, you’ll see some exciting competitions, such as:

  • Calf Scramble
  • AG Robotics Contest
  • Beef Quiz Bowl
  • BBQ Cook-Off
  • Tractor Technician Contest
  • and so much more

Since its inception in 1942, this event has given out $13.5 million in scholarships and awards to over 20,000 students. How great is that? Don’t miss the action this year!

Since 1942, the Calf Scramble has distributed $13.5 million in scholarships to over 20K students.

Reason 2: The Carnival Is So Much Fun!

Another great part of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the Carnival. Perfect for all ages, the Houston Rodeo Carnival offers attendants tons of fun, food, and entertainment. The Carnival has tons of great rides like their 130-foot tall ferris wheel, La Grande XL, complete with 36 air-conditioned cabins.

Plus, every Wednesday is Family Wednesday, offering free admission for seniors 60+ and kids 12 and under. In addition, you can get games and rides for only $2 from 11 am to 4 pm those days!

Reason 3: Delicious Food

Houston RodeoIf you haven’t tried the food at the Houston Rodeo Carnival, you’re really missing out. The Rodeo Carnival proves anything can taste good when it’s fried.

Alongside typical carnival fare like funnel cake, the Rodeo also offers their yearly Foodie Awards, crowning the best of the best dishes. Last year’s winners included Biggy’s spicy turkey leg, Fried What!’s fried bacon-wrapped cinnamon rolls, and Harlon’s BBQ’s stuffed turkey leg.

Check out some of these dining booths for food that’s sinfully scrumptious:

  • Blue Ribbon Grill
  • New Braunfels Smokehouse
  • Burton Sausage
  • Joe’s Ale House
  • Margaritaville
  • Alamo Tamale & Taco
  • Laredo Taco Company
  • Stump’s Wood-Fired Pizza
  • Sudie’s Catfish House
  • Fields of Corn
  • Stubby’s Cinnamon Rolls
  • Frios Gourmet Pops

Reason 4: Great Music

When heading to the Houston Rodeo, you can’t forget their yearly concert lineup. And it’s not just country music!

Reason 5: The Rodeo Gives Back to the Community

And the number 1 reason we love the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is because they give back so much to their local community. Just like Manning Pool Service, the Houston Rodeo cares about their community.

The Rodeo’s scholarship program started in 1957 with one small $2,000 scholarship. Now, the Houston Rodeo is the sixth largest BBB-accredited charitable organization in Houston.

They’ve given millions of dollars in education support, community help, and scholarship money to Houstonians across the city.

“While the primary benefit of the Rodeo is the unparalleled entertainment opportunities it provides the region and the large distribution of charitable giving, the Rodeo also provides a bonus economic stimulus to the overall economy that is significant. This stimulus is almost certainly greater than any other sports or arts production in Houston and is comparable to the presence of a major economic base corporation with local employment in excess of 3,000 employees.” – Dr. Barton Smith

This is the No. 1 Reason we love our Houston Rodeo: they love us right back!
